Low Desert - California

 

The Low Desert is the name used in California for any of the desert areas that are under 2,000 feet above sea level. The Low Desert areas include the Coachella Valley, the Imperial Valley, and the Lower Colorado River Valley.

Cities located within the Coachella Valley include Bermuda Dunes, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Mecca, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Thermal, and Thousand Palms.

Cities in the Imperial Valley include Brawley, Calexico, and EI Centro. Cities in the Lower Colorado River Valley include Blythe.

Wildlife refuges and wilderness areas include the Coachella Valley National Wildlife Refuge, the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge, and the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge.
